Most timesheet review is re-reading work you already watched happen. Here is how to cut it down.

Approval is where good time tracking usually goes to die. The hours are already logged; the manager is being asked to re-derive a week of context from a grid of numbers.
The fix is not a faster grid. It is giving the reviewer the same evidence the tracker already collected, grouped so the exceptions are the only thing that needs a decision.
